3-Day Pre-Symposium Workshop
This Workshop is Sold Out. Please Consider Joining Us Next Year.
Join Colleen Miniuk-Sperry, Guy Tal and Bruce Hucko for 3 energized and potent days of image making. Colleen, Guy and Bruce have formed an earnest and playful bond as photographers, educators and friends. We camp together! We also share a strong understanding of the creative process that we enjoy sharing. While we do talk to the same subject we each do so in our own unique ways.
This workshop offers you the opportunity to work very closely with 3 skilled photographers as we explore the creative process of fine art landscape photography from conceptualizing photographs through printing. This workshop is for the serious photographer who really wants to push their image making to new creative and technical heights. It’s not a race, but it is intensive. Think 16/3 instead of 24/7.
The workshop features lectures, demos, work sessions, critiques, conversation and field trips to locations known to the instructors for their great image potential and diversity. This means we’ll take you to some really cool places where we can really work! We will visit Arches NP, Canyonlands NP and specially selected BLM lands. This workshop features a day trip to the Needles District of Canyonlands NP.
This workshop begins on Sunday afternoon, April 30 with a light meal/beer/soft drink reception and introductory discussion. It concludes on Wednesday evening with a slide show and a final field session/reception.
Participants should bring their laptop and a small portfolio of images to share (print or projected). Participants should be very familiar with their own equipment and have a sturdy tripod as much field education occurs at your viewfinder. Participants will receive a detailed schedule and questionnaire upon registration.
You DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER for the symposium to attend this workshop. Please see the instructions on the registration page in order to sign up.
Book your lodging ASAP. Super 8 has reserved 15 rooms for this workshop. Visit the Lodging Page for details.
The fee includes instruction, snacks, printing and mounting supplies, permit fees, NPS entrance fees, space rental, handouts, 3 meals (2 dinners, 1 lunch). Participants are encouraged to carpool. We’ll plan our travels on our first day.
